The
province of Isfahan (population
3,774,204 (1992) - is situated in the
center of Iran, located between the
Zagros Mountain and central plain of
Iran.
It
has wide fertile plains fed by Zayandeh Rud , the great and famous
river in the center of Iran . The
Zayandeh Rud irrigates most of the
province's agricultural lands, from
Zardkuh Mountain to Batlaq-e-Gavkhuni
marshlands. Isfahan
province has a moderate climate and
four minimum in autumn . It is cold
and snowy in winter and moderate in
summer.
Since ancient
times, the kings of various dynasties made Isfahan Province the
center of government, and today , thanks to its
rich cultural heritage the region has thriving
tourism industry . Most of the centers of
historical interests date from the Saljug and
Safavid periods.
Isfahan province
has also experienced rapid industrial
development and is now one of the
greatest industrial regions in the
country . The most significant
industries are: steel works, defense
industries , medicine and , plastic manufacturing
,
textiles , weaving and handicraft.
